Fine Arts professors exhibit works in Arts Speak

Palmy's painting focuses on women's zest of life
University of the Philippines (UP) Cebu Fine Arts Professor showcases Palmy Pe- Tudtud an exhibit of women empowerment in ArtSpeak 2013: Arts & Couture at “The Freeman Lifestyle Event” held at Ayala Center Cebu last October 5-13.

Tudtud is among the 12 visual artists and 12 fashion designers for the event. Tudtud’s displayed her painting Vermillion’s Flair which portrayed art as a tool in expression for women’s liberation.

The painting made from oil on canvass portrayed the ideals and standards of thematic contrast, abstract expressionism and impressionism as presented in the exhibit which were translated with a unique design of a gown.

“Vermillion’s Flair is a painting intended for ArtSpeak. In many of my paintings, I always like to feature women, their concerns, their zest for life,” said Tudtud. 

ArtSpeak 2013 gives way for a collaboration of unique artistic responsiveness of Cebuano visual artists and different culture in Cebu fashion design.

Other couture designers in the event include Barbie Alvez, Albert Arriba, Myrna Cebrecus, Ren Manabat, William Manahan, Protacio, Wendell Quisido, Yvonne Quisumbing, Ditas Rodriguez, Rey Santos, Philipp Tampus and Marichu Tan while they display the masterpieces of Cebuano artists like Gabriel Abellana, Darby Vincent Alcoseba, Cesar Castillo, John Dinglasa, Fred Galan, Jorge Lao, Renulo Pautan, Palmy Pe-Tudtud, Celso Pepito, Lucilo “Jojo” Sagayno, Javy Villacin, and Jose “Kimsoy” Yap Jr.
