University of the Philippines Cebu Fine Arts (FA) student, Wyndelle Remonde, together with two faculty members from the FA Program, Dennis Montera and Javy Villacin, were invited to join the ManilArt 2013.

ManilArt 2013 is the ultimate visual art event in the Philippines. It is organized by the Bonafide Art Galleries Organization (BAGO) and supported by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). It is to highlight the Philippine contemporary art by the demonstrations of the Philippines’ finest galleries. It is now on its 5th year and will be held on October 9 to 13, 2013 at the recently opened SMX Aura Convention Center in Taguig City.

The three participants from UP Cebu under Studio Arts were invited by the Qube Gallery to be part of the delegates from Cebu.

Remonde, a first time exhibitor for the event, said, “It's really an honor for me to (be) included in an art exhibition in a national exhibition. It's a big opportunity for me to make a name in the art scene.”

The three artists specialize in mixed media art. They use acrylic, oil, textile paint and asphalt in their artworks. According to Villacin, he chose this kind of medium because it is flexible and more expressive.

They joined the ManilArt primarily to have exposure and next to sell their art. According to Villacin, their works will be sold ranging from Php 30,000 to Php 50,000 per art piece.

When asked to give an advice to other aspiring artists, Villacin said, “Keep on painting. The more you have body of works, the better.”

“Just continue doing your artworks. Just continue doing art,” added Remond
